DI Jimmy Perez played by Douglas Henshall
The moral center of the series — a thoughtful, widowed detective returning to his Shetland roots. Leaves police at end of Season 7.
DC Alison McIntosh played by Alison O’Donnell
Perez’s capable and empathetic second-in-command. Survives trauma in Season 3 and becomes senior DS by Season 7.
DC Sandy Wilson played by Steven Robertson
Local officer often underestimated; grows in confidence and takes more responsibility by later seasons.
Duncan Hunter played by Mark Bonnar
Cassie’s biological father and Perez’s friend/foil. Arrested in Season 6.
